Not many bands can boast that their first performance featured singing star Harry Connick Jnr, but such is the heritage of the Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra. Originally formed in 1990 to appear in Sir David Putnam's film 'Memphis Belle' the impact was so extraordinary that Greg Francis decided to keep them together, and has never looked back.
This superb band consists of top class musicians all dressed in American 8th Army Uniform, as well as sounding fantastic they look really good. With the stage decorated in giant American and British flags and an enormous 8th American badge in the centre of the stage, the visual impact is something else.
Vocalist Paul Lynas appeared on 'Stars In Their Eyes' as Harry Connick Jnr. He sings all the Harry Connick favourites such as 'It had Too Be You', 'Recipe for Making Love' and the most popular song from the film 'Danny Boy' which recently brought the house down at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. All these arrangements fit perfectly into the 1940's programme making a perfect mixture of old and new big band sounds.
The amazing Memphis Belle Lindy Hoppers complete the performance making a truly unforgettable evening of big band swing.
