Katie Waissel, 24, is a recording artist from Harefield, West London, who took part in the seventh season of popular primetime ITV show, The X-Factor. Impressing judges at her audition by singing Queen's "We Are The Champions" and "At Last" by Etta James, Katie was put through to the second stage of the competition, bootcamp, by Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell. At bootcamp, she sang "Make You Feel My Love" to progress to the judges houses. Cheryl Cole then picked Katie as one of her three girls to sing in the final stage of the competition.
Katie had the hardest run in the shows history, surviving more sing-offs than any other contestant in the shows history. Despite this, and with a steel-willed determination, Katie progressed all the way to week 8 of the show, singing some fantastic renditions of I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song), Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Don't Speak, Everybody Hurts, I'd Rather Go Blind, Sex on Fire, and Don't Let Me Down, along the way. Katie Waissel continues to perform across the country, having previously toured with the likes of Andy Abrahams and East 17.
