This great two night weekend features Jack Dean's Dance Saloon (now in its 15th year at Potters), Latin and Salsa with Richard and Lynn Miller and the opportunity to take part in the brand new dance craze that everyone is talking about: Zumba, with Potters very own teacher, George. Remember at this friendly and fun weekend you do not need to bring a dance partner and dancing instruction caters for dancers of all abilities.
Now in its 6th year, this break is fast becoming a firm favourite in the Irish Music calendar. Our fantastic line up of artists include Brendan Quinn Family Band, Davitt Showband, The Boys Next Door, Pat Jordan and Finians Rainbow, Mary B and Paul Gallacher, Sea Wilson and Tony Mac, Merv and Maria, Micro Flattery, plus Ceilidh Dancing and Set Dance workshops with Breffni O'Brian. And this weekend is again compered by the larger than life, Big Tim Lane.
Anne Lofts & Ray Skinner join us as dance instructors providing tuition in Social Dancing, Ballroom and Rock ‘n' Roll during two of our Big Band Festivals. Richard & Lynn Miller provide tuition in Latin, Salsa and Ballroom dancing on the midweek break commencing 27th June 2011, with for the very first time at Potters an appearance from the legendary Empress Ballroom Orchestra.
During June and September Potters presents a wide variety of the Country's top Big Bands on our Big Band festival. Joining us in 2011 are the likes of The Joe Loss Orchestra, Jeff Hooper and his Big Band, The Glenn Miller Orchestra (directed by Ray McVay), The John Miller Orchestra, Chris Smith and his String of Pearls, The Len Phillips Big Band and The Syd Lawrence Orchestra (directed by Chris Dean). Please see the Break planner for more information on which bands are appearing when.
Potters presents, in association with Richard & Lynn Miller, The Stars Of Dance. If you're a fan of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing then this is the perfect weekend for you. On the Friday night we feature the rising stars of the dance world with World and British Young Champions performing with Potters Theatre Company and the Potters Big Band.
On the Saturday morning and afternoon, workshops in Latin American and Ballroom are available with Richard & Lynn, plus one of the sessions will be held by James and Ola Jordon. In the 2012 series of Strictly Come Dancing, James was partnered with Pamela Stevenson and his wife Ola with Paul Daniels. In the evening James and Ola take to the stage for a Q&A sessions and their own stunning show.
On the Sunday, the format is similar, except that James and Ola are replaced by Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova, one of Britain's finest Latin American Dance partnerships and regular professional dancers on several series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Country Music weekend is back once again for 2011 with some great live music from old favourites to up and coming prodigies. The entire weekend is packed full of concerts, jam sessions, bands to dance to and bands to listen to, plus fun Western Dance workshops which are always good fun.
This break is incredibly popular and tends to sell out fairly quickly. The list of artistes appearing include Stephen Smyth & Band, Off The Kuff, Hayley Oliver Band, Roger Dean Sings The Johnny Cash Story, Nicky James, Barry Doyle Duo, Final Touch and Merv & Maria.
Our Drinks Inclusive* Potters Summer Ball is now the highlight of our social calendar and is the opportunity to dress up (normally Black Tie/Evening Dress), enjoy an evening of fabulous entertainment from Potters Theatre Company and The Untitled Band, indulge in a sumptuous 5 course Gala dinner with selected wines included and to party the night away whilst enjoying your favourite tipple from the bar without having to put your hand in your pocket once!
