2007 will be seen as a year to remember with Alex Marshall becoming the first player to win the Potters Holidays World Indoor Bowls Singles trophy four times.
With record audiences throughout the Championships the Bowls World saw some fabulous matches and toasted some deserving winners.
In a high quality match shown live on the last BBC TV 'Grandstand' programme, Scotland's Alex Marshall came from a set down to beat England's title-holder Mervyn King in the final of the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championship in Norfolk to make history by becoming the first player to win the World Bowls Tour title for a fourth time.
It's your dream to win it once, but to be the first to do it four times is unbelievable," said the 39-year-old from Tranent in East Lothian after his 5-7, 13-4, 2-0 victory over the defending champion from Norfolk.
Caroline Brown wins the 2007 Ladies Matchplay Trophy
In the repeat of the 2005 final, Caroline Brown overcame a strong challenge from the title holder Ellen Falkner to win the Ladies World Matchplay title at Potters Leisure Resort.
"I'm absolutely delighted," said the medical secretary from the Blantyre Club afterwards. "I'm just so happy with the way I've played for the last few days - but all the way through the game, I knew Ellen could come back.
"It's been a fantastic experience playing here in the event at Potters - it definitely helps your development as a player and raises your game."
English Pair win Mixed Pairs Title
English pair Jo Morris & Greg Harlow swept to success in the Potters Holidays World Mixed Pairs Matchplay Championship after beating Anglo/New Zealand partnership Noreen Stratford & Ian Bond in the final of the World Bowls Tour event at Potters.
Championship 'first' in Pairs Final
Billy Jackson & David Gourlay became the first players to win back-to-back titles since 1992 when they beat Welsh pair Jason Greenslade & Robert Weale in the final of the Potters Holidays World Indoor Pairs Championship.
The 2008 World Indoor Bowls Championships
January 2008 marks the tenth year of sponsorship - and record prize fund - for the World Bowls Tour's blue-riband event by Potters Leisure Resort.
The Potters Holidays World Indoor Bowls Championships will take place from 7-27 January 2008, featuring the flagship event the World Indoor Singles Championship, as well as the World Indoor Pairs Championship, the Ladies World Match Play Championship and the Mixed Pairs World Match Play Championship.
The events attract the world's best players from the globe's leading bowls nations, in addition to record crowds, the three-week festival of international bowls also features live BBC TV coverage in the UK, in addition to international exposure on Eurosport and Sky TV.
"Potters have truly raised the bar for sponsorship of international bowls," said World Bowls Tour Chief Executive Nigel Oldfield. "The World Indoor Championships have gone from strength to strength since we first came to Norfolk in 1999. The facilities here are superb - unprecedented around the world - and the support we get is excellent.
"We are also delighted to confirm that the winner of the singles title will receive a cheque for £30,000 - a record in the history of bowls!" Brian Potter, Chairman of Potters Leisure Ltd, added: "Bringing the televised World Championships to Norfolk ten years ago and putting bowls on the East Anglia map has been enormously satisfying.
"Hosting these championships has attracted hundreds of thousands of bowls enthusiasts to Potters - not just to watch the world's best players during the championships but also to play on our rinks throughout the year.
"Our association with the World Bowls Tour has proved to be a perfect partnership and we look forward to celebrating our tenth anniversary next year."
