To celebrate the two-hour theatre production recreating two popular Elvis Presley concerts, with 12-piece live band ‘THE STEELS’, and backing vocals by 'The Sweet Harmonies’, we have put together a list of Elvis’s best-selling UK singles…

  1. It’s Now or Never – this song with The Jordanaires spent eight weeks at the top in 1960-1961 and returned to the summit again in 2005 for a single week, 28 years after his death. It has sold 1.3million copies in the UK alone and the melody belongs to O Sole Mio, an Italian song that is familiar to everyone as Just One Cornetto! When Elvis was in the US army, he was stationed in Germany and heard the Italian song and when he was discharged asked his record company to write an English translation for him
  2. Jailhouse Rock – the theme song of the motion picture he also starred in was released in 1958. Elvis played a wrongly accused convict who becomes a star when he gets out. The film is famous for the scene where Elvis performs this song in an elaborate dance number taking place in prison (UK 985,500 sales)
  3. Are You Lonesome Tonight? – One of the biggest selling songs of the 60s, the song marked a change of direction for Elvis with this gentle ballad. As he finished recording it, Elvis knocked over a chair and the sound can be heard on the record. The famous ‘laughing version’ came from a 1969 Las Vegas performance unofficially recorded (UK 911,000 sales)
  4. A Little Less ConversationMac Davis and Billy Strange wrote this for the 1968 Elvis movie Live A Little, Love A Little. This was a fairly obscure Elvis song until it was remixed and released as a single in 2002, going to number 1 in the charts. The remix gained popularity when it was used in a Nike World Cup commercial (UK sales of 894,000)
  5. The Wonder Of YouElvis recorded a live version of The Wonder of You in Las Vegas in February 1970. The song was released as a single on April 20, 1970 and logged six weeks at Number 1 in the summer of 1970 (UK sales of 891,000)
  6. Way Down – Recorded in October 1976, it was his last single released before his death in August 1977, and was his single at the time of his death. The song was later covered by Status Quo
  7. Wooden Heart - Elvis Presley sang this in the movie G.I. Blues, and his version became a #1 hit in the UK in March 1961. RCA Records had no intention of releasing it in the US, as they feared it would harm his image - in the movie, he sang it to a puppet. Presley was pipped to the post in the US by Joe Dowell’s cover version, which made number one at the end of August 1961
  8. Rock a Hula Baby / Can’t Help Falling in Love - This Hawaiian-flavoured rock-and-roll tune was written by Ben Weisman, Fred Wise, and Dolores Fuller for Elvis Presley's musical romantic comedy Blue Hawaii. It was released as a double A-side with Can't Help Falling In Love in the UK, where it topped the pop chart for four weeks
  9. All Shook Up - The song remained at the top of Billboard's pop chart for nine weeks, and it stayed on the chart for 30 weeks - the longest of any Elvis single. Otis Blackwell wrote the song at the offices of Shalimar Music in 1956 after Al Stanton, one of Shalimar's owners, shook a bottle of drink and suggested he write a song based on the phrase All Shook Up.

Plus who can forget hits like Suspicious Minds, Always on my Mind, Blue Suede Shoes, Burning Love, Hound Dog, Heartbreak Hotel, Love Me Tender, Viva Las Vegas and lots more!
