Karen Harrington visited Potters a decade ago and returned to Potters last year with 13 of her extended family. We caught up with Karen to find out about her break and why the whole weekend was “geared up for families”…
What makes Potters so special for a family break?
The family breaks really are geared up for and built around families and what they like to do. There’s something for everyone at Potters and we just had a fantastic time. Potters reminds me of the idyllic family holidays that I had as a child and I mean that in the nicest way - it is more of a modern version of what we enjoyed as kids. That’s down to how welcoming and friendly everyone is, how fun is the order of the day and it just feels like a community. Potters has family values and manners that are sometimes lacking elsewhere and everything you could want is at Potters. Everyone is welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
Who came with you?
There was 14 of us, including a six month old baby, our children - a 10, 13 and 14-year-old, my husband, my parents and my husband, Scott’s, mum. It was our first holiday all together with everyone and it was brilliant.
What did you do on your family break?
All the facilities and activities mean you can do as much as you want to, and dip into whatever you want and that’s what we did.
We all watched the amazing Potters Theatre Company shows in the evenings and the children did the sports activities, and one likes arts and crafts, so made posters and decorated cups. My husband and I love Mark Brewer and doing quizzes and games, so we had so much fun. While my parents did line dancing and Scott’s mum liked to watch all the family having fun.
We can’t fault the food and our waitress was amazing - remembering what we like. Everyone at Potters bends over backwards to ensure you have a good time.
Scott and I had been about 10 years ago and we had always wanted to return. It was on my bucket list to visit Potters again and last year we went for it and we just had the best time. 13 of us are coming back again this December to do it all again!
We stayed until late on our last day and saw how it changed in terms of the guests then coming for the weekend – Potters really does cater for everyone and we were really impressed.
I would recommend Potters to everyone and many of the people who came with us also want to return this year and that says it all.
