We are still buzzing after winning an award for Outstanding Customer Service at the very first iNews Staycation Awards, held in London on 21st November 2019 and celebrating the nation’s best holiday destinations.

The awards, hosted by presenter Matt Baker, were launched to celebrate the UK’s thriving tourism industry, to shine a light on hidden gems and celebrate the array of wonderful holiday opportunities we have on our doorstep.

The i newspaper asked for reader’s to nominate their favourite holiday spots in the UK and a panel of nine judges from organisations including the National Trust and Ramblers picked the winners in 17 categories.

We beat off strong competition from finalists in the Outstanding Customer Service category; Landal GreenParks UK, Pickwell Manor in Devon and The Wensleydale Experience in North Yorkshire.

Jane Potter, Director at Potters Resort, picked-up the award at the event. We caught up with Jane, who said: “It was a pleasure to be at an awards ceremony celebrating and championing how special it is to holiday in the UK and to win this national award is testament to our incredible team, especially as this was the most entered category and every tourism business strives to deliver outstanding customer service. Our 600-strong friendly team look after up to 800 guests every day of the year and every day deliver exceptional customer service, go the extra mile and put a smile on our guests’ faces.

"On behalf of all the family, I would like to thank them for their hard work as it is their contribution, attitude and five-star service that sets us apart and ensures we provide guests with Quality Time Together. Of course, what makes this award even more special is that it was nominated by readers and I would like to thank all our guests for choosing Potters Resort for a short break and returning time and time again. As we get ready to celebrate our centenary in 2020 and what my forefathers and all generations of the Potter family have achieved, including my mum and dad, Judy and Brian Potter, we are incredibly proud to win this award. To top off an amazing evening, I got to kiss Matt Baker when he gave me the award!”

Other winners included Brownber Hall in Cumbria, Strawberry Field in Liverpool, The Great North Trail and Northumberland being named as Seaside Staycation of the Year.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists.
