London Calling! Get ready to Shout… Potters Theatre Company’s new show, The Brits, launches this spring on 19th March 2020, and the team have something very special planned with a new show celebrating glam rock, punk rock, the 60s, pop and much, much more. Read on to find out about the show and what our Entertainments Director, Nicky Hathway, has to say…
With legendary artists like The Beatles, Elton John and Queen coming from our fine shores, there is no doubt that Britain rules the airwaves. Even in recent years, musical talent from Great Britain has seen artists like Ed Sheeran and Adele dominating the charts around the world.
The Potters Theatre Company will celebrate the best of British when they pay homage to some of the best home-grown musical talent in their patriotic new show, The Brits.
With decades of singers and groups to choose from, Nicky Hathway had the difficult job of cramming as many classic British songs as she could into the show, from the sounds of the sixties to pop, rock and today’s multi-million selling artists.
As well as the jukebox of timeless and unforgettable music performed by our incredible live band, the costumes also reflect changing fashions and the comedy team will bring some light-hearted British humour to the proceedings. Get ready to wave your union jack and celebrate The Brits!
Which artists and songs can we expect?
We don’t want to give too much away, but the show includes hits from The Who, Dusty Springfield, Elton John, Queen, Duran Duran, Blur, The Spice Girls, Take That, Coldplay and many, many more.
Get ready to Twist and Shout, enjoy some Parklife, enter a House of Fun and do some Thinking Out Loud in a show which will appeal to all. After all, You’ll Never Walk Alone!
The comedy team will also be on hand for some Agadoo and you can expect to see the alternate Spice Girls making an appearance on stage!
Our live band will be on stage, there will be stunning costumes, stunning backdrops with our LED wall and lots of drama.
We caught up with Nicky Hathway to find out about the show: “There isn’t much we don’t cover in this show, which celebrates different genres of British music throughout the decades and some really iconic moments. From the 60s to today, we really show how British music has evolved over the years. Leanne Mitchell is doing the vocal arrangements for the show and we have our fabulous resident choreographer Helen Ramsay and guest choreographer Richard Peakman working their magic on the dance routines and staging. The Brits has our new cast – with 10 new extremely talented performers recruited from West End auditions last year, as well as favourites like Sion, Fraser, Chloe and Katie continuing to wow you.”
