One of our latest projects on Resort has been to transform your walk from reception to the Atlas Theatre and create an immersive experience with our new ‘Tunnel of Lights’.
Providing the perfect photo opportunity and featuring sound, colour changing lights and LED screens, the tunnel transports you to different locations with themes changing, sometimes multiple times, within a 24-hour cycle and on different breaks.
On your way to breakfast see the dawn rising, before returning to a rainforest and keep an eye out for sharks when it becomes an aquarium!
At Christmas it was a winter wonderland with snow, at Halloween it turned spooky and it can take on a different theme and look on every break.
An incredible amount of work has gone into this project, with thousands of star lights being hand drilled and thousands of hours spent on the project, as Paul Firminger, Resort technical manager, explains: “Guests have been taking lots of photos inside the tunnel and the reaction has been phenomenal. We have so much that we can do with the tunnel and the visuals in this area in the future, and the aquarium looks so real that guests have even be asking us when we are feeding the fish!”
With a modern ‘New England’ theme, the bespoke tunnel area features slate tiles, mosaic mirror tiles, wooden panels, plants and a cobbled street effect carpet.
Here’s some facts on the tunnel…
- Over 1,500 stars on the ceiling (all hand drilled)
- Over 1,800 metres of cable – equivalent to 20 football pitches
- The corridor LED screens have as many individual LED’s as 1,622 8ft Christmas trees!
- The tunnel project was all bespoke and everything has been made to measure. Simply put, there’s nothing quite like it anywhere.
We think it looks amazing and Paul Firminger also recently helped Santa’s sleigh to fly in the Atlas Theatre in the 2019 Christmas Spectacular and has designed and project managed projects on Resort, including the GameZone, the Atlas Theatre bar, Zest and Black Rock Grill. And much more. We’ll bring you details soon of what is next!
The ‘Tunnel of Lights’ is the perfect place to have a photo taken, so make sure you share your photos with us on Facebook and Instagram!
