Scotland’s John Orr is the new WBT World Under 25 Open Singles winner.
In the final at the Potters International Arena against Spalding’s Jordan Philpott, Orr won the best of two sets of eleven ends each – 10-5, 8-6.
In a high quality display from both players, Orr found himself 6-0 up in the opening set before Philpott got on the card with a single, but the Englishman only scored on two more ends to find himself on the back foot and needing to win the second set to force a tie break.
In the second though, it was Philpott, who recently won the WBT Young Player of the Year Award, who made the early running, taking a 3-0 lead.
Orr though countered with back to back singles and doubles to more 6-3 ahead. Shots were traded over the remaining four ends, but a single on the last saw the relieved Scot over the finishing line 8-6.
