As one of the exceptionally few players to have stayed permanently in the World Bowls top 16 Rankings since 1996. Andy Thomson MBE has always played with consummate skill and last season was no different when reaching the quarter final of both the Scottish International Open and the International Open. This meant that after the season end reshuffle of ranking points Andy Thomson MBE had gained enough to hold him in the 10th slot for the 2017-18 season.
The season opened with a quarter final berth in the Scottish International Open but then disaster struck as he crashed out in the first round of both the World Indoor Singles and the International Open. With the season end of points shuffle, this reduced his placing to Number 16. Andy Thomson will need a concerted effort to now stay in the World’s Top 16.
Andy Thomson always has a smile for the audience and at the same time has a steely determination on stepping out to play in a match, he is never to be underestimated and has massive respect from all players, not just within the World Bowls Tour but also hundreds of other players in the sport.
