Ballroom stars Anton Du Beke and Erin Boeg are returning to Potters Resort on Sunday 17th May 2020 and we can’t wait. Their stunning show will feature traditional ballroom dances, the waltz, quickstep, ballroom, tango and Viennese Waltz.
The dancers have become national treasures since being one of the first couples invited to join Strictly Come Dancing and we love seeing how elegant Erin looks in her stunning costumes, while Anton is charm personified. Ahead of their return to Potters, we’ve put together a profile on the talented duo who encapsulate the glitz, glamour and elegance of a bygone era and add showbiz sparkle…
Anton and Erin's amazing journey began when the pair first met back in 1997. The couple quickly began to cut a dash through the dancing world, and within a year of forming their inimitable partnership they won the New Zealand Championships... and again the year after. In 1997 they also made it to the prestigious International Dance Championships at London's Royal Albert Hall.
After escalating the amateur rankings, Anton & Erin turned professional in 2002 to place 3rd in the UK in their first professional competition in Blackpool. Wins, accolades and much recognition were to follow as they continued to work the competition circuit, honing their talents.
It was no surprise that the couple caught the eye of the BBC when it decided that prime-time Saturday television was in need of a strictly fabulous new show. With Anton's wit and charm, and Erin's allure and elegance, the couple were chosen in 2004 to star in the first series of the BBC1 television show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. This was their big break and would whisk them away from competitive life and onto career opportunities they had not dreamt possible.
Come Dancing was reborn, with a new format, celebrity partners, high profile judges, and the nation's favourite Bruce Forsyth at the helm. The show burst onto our screens and has gone on to become a global phenomenon. Anton appearing in all twelve series to date, and Erin the only female professional to appear in ten, stepping down from the competition prior to the birth of her son.
Anton & Erin continue to fill theatres and auditoriums country-wide — their appeal translating from live television to the live stage. From choreographing the hit stage show 'Simply Ballroom' which toured internationally for two years, to eight acclaimed sell-out tours: 'Anton & Erin Cheek To Cheek', 2009; 'Anton & Erin Steppin' Out', 2010; 'Anton & Erin Puttin' On The Ritz', 2011; 'Let's Do It', 2012; 'Anton & Erin Go To Hollywood', 2013' Anton Du Beke: Ballroom to Broadway', 2014; 'Anton & Erin: That's Entertainment', 2015; 'Anton & Erin... Just Gotta Dance', 2016; 'Anton & Erin: Swing Time', 2017; 'Anton & Erin: From Broadway to Hollywood', 2018; 'Anton & Erin: Dance Those Magical Musicals', 2019... and new for 2020: 'Anton & Erin: Dance Those Magical Movies'!
Appearing in the BBC's 'Proms In The Park' for the second year running, most recently at the spectacular Titanic Slipways in Belfast, and special guests in a 2014 showcase of 'Cole Porter Classics' at the Royal Festival Hall, their special appearances add timeless sparkle and panache to productions.
Anton and Erin are in great demand, showcasing ballroom dancing at its best with their world-class talent, grace and chemistry, and we can’t wait to welcome the lovely couple back to Potters.
Their performance will also include a popular Q & A section, providing some fun interaction with the audience, so make sure you get your questions ready for them!
